BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles
Fashion Textiles is a course that sets itself apart from the rest by helping you become not only an excellent fashion designer but also a specialist in print design, developing an in depth understanding of hand and digital techniques.
Our students are passionate about colour, texture, pattern and using the latest cutting edge techniques in their work. They’ve learned how to conceive and create exciting textile designs and garment collections, and worked on live industry projects with big brand names.
Their final year of study involves the completion of a professional portfolio and dissertation, together with the final major project, which you’ll see here.
Programme Director Neil Bottle said: “The Covid 19 epidemic has challenged us all, testing our resilience, forcing us to reflect on what really matters and what we want to hold on to and above all it has pushed our creativity to new limits. I’m extremely proud of my 2020 graduates who have indeed pushed themselves to new levels of creativity and imagination to keep going in extremely difficult circumstances. The work you see here on our UCA online showcase has been resolved at home during lockdown without the amazing facilities we have to offer on campus at UCA.
“I’m impressed this year with the diversity of the work, reflecting the challenging and ambitious nature of the BA Fashion Textiles programme. The group have researched a wide range of topics which include, women’s rights, political oppression, personal battles with illness and mental health as well as a variety of approached to sustainable fashion, all of which explore our wonderful diverse existence on this amazing planet in celebration of colour and pattern.
“On behalf of my staff team, I wish them all well as they embark on the next chapter of their creative careers.”
