Carlos Hawthorn’s photography considers how people and nature are connected – from small traces in environments, to specific photographic technologies such as game cameras. Hawthorn’s current work, drawing from a lifetime of birdwatching, offers an escape from urban commotion. A Birder’s Notes comprises photographic prints, notebooks of sightings from as early as 2012, and an audio soundtrack of birdsong. The work highlights the experience of birding rather than the bird itself.
