Flooding Barbican Unit 2 Cluster 4

MA Architecture & MA Interior Design

Flooding Barbican is a VR experience project. This project is our attempt to use virtual reality to make people experience the submerged scene of the Barbican Center. This project aims to raise public awareness of environmental change. We mainly implement our projects through architectural interior design software such as SketchUp, 3d max and virtual reality software such as UNITY.

This project is situated in the Barbican centre, a performance art centre in the Barbican estate, central London. The Barbican contains both residence area and cultural space to reflect the combination of life and nature. The scenario produced with VR simulation raises awareness of climate change and lead to explore future life under climate change condition by using VR technology. The scenes in VR will be narrated from cause to effect of climate change that affects the rise of sea level and flooding. Then conveyed this message in both terms of environmental changing and intimate space design for building up an immersive emotion of future life and allow the audience to interact and participate with the environment.
