Theme

The work interrogates the idea of identity, the way we construct and deconstruct ourselves to fit into the jigsaw puzzle of society. Using broken-down and found materials that are deemed as rubbish, using these to construct faceless female and male portraits into something new and beautiful. The work is open to interpretation, hinting that we don’t always see everything the same, just like our identities.

Our identities are not only made up by what we do and say but also built by those who surround us. For example our Family. They teach us the rights and wrongs, shaping us and our identity from the beginning. These thoughts have become a focus in my practice, questioning where the influence of our identities start and where our own decisions make an impact.
