Hi, my name is Kira Juanacio, I’m from Spain and for my final major project, I started a recycled crochet brand.
Two Billion Tons of waste are produced every year that damage our earth’s biodiversity. Our waste problem is constantly accelerating the climate crisis and causing climate anxiety to our younger generation, it’s something we cannot possibly continue ignoring which is why I wanted to take the initiative to start a sustainable brand.
During the pandemic I was so bored I started learning crochet with the help of my grandma and youtube, after building up confidence and doing tons of research I made a collection of recycled designs made to help the environment and now I am proud to present my recycled crochet collection brand. Although it might not be 100% zero waste, I tried my best to reduce and produce recycled crochet pieces for a circular economy.
One’s waste can always be another person’s treasure. In my case, I thought why not use my crochet passion and recycled yarn to help the environment become a circular economy? Bycherry only uses recycled materials for all of our collections and drops to maintain circularity within our brand. Our products can last for more than 6 years, be recycled at the end of their lifetime, are customisable and made from recycled wool and cotton.
I would like to thank everyone who has helped me with this project. Thank you guys so much to M, Jing, Elodie, Charlyn and Jess, without your help this project wouldn’t have come to life.
