This work delves into the idea of characterisation, specifically looking at the Sins and Virtues. The painting reflects my interpretation of each character, for we don’t know exactly what the Sins and Virtues look like, every portrayal is fictional, they may not have ever existed within reality. All of them have the same face as it implies how we all have a choice in how we choose to behave, and that both Sins and Virtues lie within us. The Sins are stood on crumbling rock, below lies hell. The Virtues are stood on circles of glass, representing heaven and showing their vulnerability. Halos are painted behind each of their heads to draw in the religious origin.
