PROJECT 6 – EL NARANJO, VALENCIA, SPAIN
El Naranjo is a organic restaurant I have created to provide not only good tasting food, but jobs and a stable sense of belonging for locals living in Valencia. Due to a financial crisis, many have been left without jobs and struggle affording to even eat day to day. With this project there are many jobs available and El Naranjo is all about learning. Job vacancies are available learning in the kitchen, catering in your own food shack or aspiring to take part in the garden, growing and learning. This project welcomes those in need, tourists, the unemployed and locals.
Well-being. Good food. Stability. Education
The Orange became a symbol of prosperity as it suggests great wealth. dreamy destinations and for-off lands. In a structure designed specifically to fit the Valencian style, locals are able to wine and dine in a space which is unique and full of light. Gardens throughout the facade grow fresh veg which will be used in the kitchen. And for desert, diners can walk through the gardens and grab some oranges to snack on on their way home…
YEAR TWO WORK
THE ARCHICE PROJECT – LIGHT AFTER DARK
After being set a brief of creating an archive focused building, I created a building which was an archive entirely in itself. The facades made purpose was to capture in real time 360 views of Canterbury, the location in which it was set. After experimenting myself with pinhole cameras and capturing some quite successful and interesting moments, I decided to enlarge the scale and make an entire building a pin hole camera. This was a challenging but thrilling mission.
THE FOLLY PROJECT – LIGHT OF LIFE
This project was based on the expression of light and how it can be used to entirely compliment architecture. On a project surrounding the reproduction of life and birth, light of life is a visually conscious piece to highlight the delicacy of natural human experiences.
