I create slip cast porcelain curves, tubes, and infinity loops, that are always, in some way, spilling over themselves. This is mirrored in my research into utopia as a process (rather than a solution,) in which the promise of an ideal is never realised but remains on an endless loop of desire. Because of my research into the history of utopian futures and forms, my work brings together seemingly disparate forms and textures, from Minimalist-inspired Bauhaus and Brutalism, to the Maximalism of The Memphis Group. The contrast of clean and seemingly-infinite forms, with playful and colourful imperfect protrusions, speaks towards my interest in creating ceramic works that express the ever-unfulfilled desire for perfect solutions to ever-changing questions.
