DELAYED is a real-time, third-person interactive installation exploring the
gap between experiencing an event and feeling its emotional impact — built on Freud’s concept of Nachträglichkeit (deferred action) and structured using tensegrity as both engineering principle and design logic.

Grounded in a 200-respondent survey on delayed emotional response, the
project translates a four-category grief-reaction taxonomy (sudden
release, staged accumulation, withdrawal, continued numbness) into four
garments — Outburst, Titration, Retreat, and Muted — each built as a
tensegrity structure that holds under tension at T=0 and fails completely
at T=resolved.

Visitors navigate a hub-and-four-rooms environment in Unreal Engine 5,
controlling a MetaHuman avatar whose interactions with each garment
(hold, click, proximity, or simply time) trigger that garment’s transition — making the visitor complicit in producing each failure
rather than simply watching it happen.

Built across CLO3D, Blender, and UE5.6, DELAYED asks whether fashion can put a real body under a real structural tension analogous to the
psychological one it represents.
