I’ve always loved the idea of a warrior princess, seeking adventures and treasures and fighting mythological creatures, like the dragon in this case. That’s why I wanted to write a mini-story about all of that, and that’s how The Dragon Gem was created
In a kingdom where the brave Princess Azri’s life was already destined, she seeks adventure and doesn’t expect a prince to rescue her and do everything for her. Along with her faithful Chocobo, they ride in search of the Dragon Gem, but along the way, she will meet the Gem’s guardian, who will not make her mission so easy.
For my version of Chocobo, I was inspired by Final Fantasy XVI. I modelled, textured, rigged, and animated it.
I got Azri’s model online as I have seen it in multiple videos and wanted to try it for my animation. For her personality, I was inspired by Alice from Alice in Wonderland and Mulan, two women who in their films are the best warriors.
While looking for inspiration online, I came across a dragon model online and thought it would be perfect for my animation. For its personality, I wanted it to look powerful and ready to protect its Gem.
This isn’t the end of this story, this story is reaching its climax, and I know you’ll want to see the fight in action. I’ll be finishing it soon and you will be able to see it on my ArtStation and LinkedIn pages!
This animation was made entirely by hand with keyframes in Maya and Unreal Engine.
