Chadani Pant

The focus of Chandani’s work is to give a new look of life to old and torn clothes through visible mending. The premise is that people may have an emotional attachment to their clothes and do not wish to discard them; others may not be able to afford new ones. Chadani decided to collect these clothes and add creative visible mending to these pieces to reduce textile waste and maintain and address sustainability. Using various coloured threads for mending that are applied with various embroidery stitch which give a different and new look to every garment. Chadani is inspired by her grandmother’s mending work, who used traditional Kantha techniques to remake garments and quilts for her family over many years. She believes visible mending is the best way to transition an old garment into a stylish one.
