My project presents a comprehensive sustainability strategy for Merrell, a leading outdoor footwear brand. It was inspired by the urgent need for the outdoor industry to reduce its environmental footprint and lead by example in sustainable practices.
By combining market research, stakeholder interviews, and benchmarking against industry best practices, I developed actionable recommendations for Merrell to increase transparency, actively educate consumers, and foster meaningful community engagement.
This holistic approach not only addresses regulatory requirements but also aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and resonates with Merrell’s core ‘Experience Seeker’ consumer. By embedding transparency, education, and authentic engagement into all aspects of its operations, the strategy aims to build consumer trust, strengthen brand loyalty, and drive sustainable growth within the outdoor industry.
