Eva Gonzalo Recio

My work has always revolved around themes of sexual liberation, healing, and the expression and empowerment of female sexuality. I have had to question why these subjects were so central in all my work. Through this self reflection my work became autobiographical, as I portray my experiences, feelings, thoughts and conflicts. I use painting, performance and writing as a means to articulate these conflicting feelings. Consequently my practice serves to externalise themes of introspection, understanding and healing, thus communicating visually complex topics that can be very hard to vocalise because of their raw nature.
