My crochet artwork captures the past, present, and future simultaneously. Each new loop grows from the one that came before it; as a stitch begins, the previous one has already been completed. This continuous movement mirrors the passage of time and the accumulation of memories.
Through the repetitive act of crocheting, I reflect on storytelling and childhood experiences. What begins as a small crochet piece gradually expands through an intuitive process of making, allowing memories and emotions to guide the work. The crochet surface becomes a space where fragments of personal history emerge through colour, pattern, and texture.
Bright, vibrant sections mark different moments and feelings, recalling the emotional landscape of growing up. Colours are chosen instinctively, representing both joyful and difficult memories that together shape the narrative of childhood. In this way, the work functions as a visual diary, where each crochet pattern holds a story or a moment in time.
The process of crocheting also evokes the comfort and familiarity often associated with childhood crafts and domestic creativity. Stitched words appear across the crochet surface, offering fragments of memories, thoughts, and affirmations. These textual elements guide the viewer through a series of intimate narratives, transforming the textile surface into a space where personal stories and childhood experiences are gently preserved and shared.
