‘The Mourning Veil’
‘The Mourning Veil’ is a jewellery collection that I designed, inspired by the gothic aesthetic and the elements of mourning jewellery of the Georgian and the Victorian Eras. I found the ways people used to mourn the deceased back then quite curious and a tiny bit unsettling, placing hair locks of the departed into lockets or displaying them under glass windows in place of garnets, carrying a part of their loved ones with them and close to the heart as they wore those pieces of jewellery. It is both dark and romantic, a piece of the past that I wanted to share with the world through my own interpretation.
