My final project of this year is located in Porto. Through research and exploring the area I decided on creating a puppet theatre which holds a museum and areas for actors to make there own puppets. However, my project goes deeper. Traditional crafts are being practiced less in Porto, the older generation hold stories that can be passed down. My project offers a places for people to teach the younger generations this traditional form of performance and making. While our site sits in a high tourist area, I ensured my project catered for all residents in Porto and did not act as just a tourist attraction by emphasising the cultural significances puppeteering had in Porto and the passing traditional Northern Portuguese stories and different forms of creative expression.
