My practice is informed by the precarious processes within ceramics, with reference to utilising the raw qualities of my medium. I am heavily inspired by the wheel and the gestural nature of clay through this I enjoy finding the contacts between surface and tactility in making. I mainly work with rich and flavourful clay bodies, predominantly terracotta and black stoneware, that are distinct from textural and vivid glazes. I am interested in varying the extremes of traditional ceramic boundaries, through high firing work and applying glaze in various states of viscosity to allow for unpredictability and spontaneity throughout my process.
