Centered: Finding Self is an autoethnographic digital fashion project exploring how nature and mindfulness-informed design can support individuals experiencing social anxiety in finding calm, connection, and emotional wellbeing. Drawing on Attention Restoration Theory, the Biophilia Hypothesis, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, the project translates the researcher’s own lived experience of judgement, stress, and restoration into four digital fashion looks: Bruised to Heal, Suffocative to Free, Chaos to Alive, and Dull to Calm, each paired with an immersive environment. Rather than assuming these physically-grounded theories transfer seamlessly into digital space, Centered critically tests where digital fashion can, and cannot, meaningfully support psychological restoration.
