This showcase contains a look into my final project, The Dancer’s Heart which was based in the city of Porto in Portugal.
Portuguese folk dance, a tradition within Portugal that has seen a rise in interest in recent years. With this rise in interest, comes the dilemma that a lot of the knowledge about this art form is held with individuals within a community. So, this project, The Dancer’s Heart, aims to provide the learning, teaching and performance spaces to support the rise in interest on a communal scale. Allowing the knowledge of the artform to transition from an individual scale to a communal scale.
