An experimental book combining theory and illustration, exploring the self as a layered performance shaped by social roles. Inspired by Erving Goffman’s dramaturgical approach, it reflects on identity as something constructed, masked, and fragile.

Promotional poster for Life As An Act Itself. Designed in the style of 1920s circus and cabaret aesthetics, it visually frames the project’s theatrical atmosphere and persona-driven narrative.

Illustration created using my own blood as an experimental medium, carefully taken with the help of a medical professional. It reflects themes of fragility, embodiment, and the visceral nature of identity.

The ‘Front Stage’ page features an interactive paper mechanism resembling a theatre stage. It opens and closes to reflect the performative nature of social roles presented to the audience.

Chapter 3: Regions and Region Behaviour explores the contrast between front stage and backstage. Here, the persona is shown in her private, unguarded state, revealing a more intimate side beyond performance.

The Content page introduces the reader to the circus–cabaret universe through a pop-up structure, combining a theatrical stage entrance with the book’s chapter overview.
