‘Your Words (My) Hurt’ is is a deeply personal project that explores grief, trauma and the impact of words. The work draws on Labana’s own experiences of loss and growing up in a dysfunctional family. It represents both an act of vulnerability and an attempt to bridge the silence between pain and understanding through visual storytelling. The voices referenced are those of her mum and nan, no longer present. They have left behind a silence that carries both pain and longing.
