My work, ‘World of the Wisps’, is based on the folklore Will o the Wisps. These creatures are usually represented as blue floating balls of fire that misguide lost travellers into the depths of forests and marshlands. Their stories and personalities remind me of a time of child-like wonder, where the world was brighter and imagination could run wild through nature, where fantastical ideas truly came to life. My collection here is based upon this same concept and through sewing, dying and carving techniques I hope to have captured a wisps’ ethereal, peaceful and cunning temperament.
