This project explores the digital reimagining of the traditional Chinese Lotus Scroll pattern through the lens of contemporary branding and visual communication. Rooted in cultural heritage yet expressed through modern design language, the project aims to create a visual identity system that resonates with global audiences while honoring the depth of Chinese tradition.
Inspired by a personal memory—an antique vase from my childhood home that featured the Lotus Scroll motif and was lost during a move—I was later moved to rediscover the same pattern at the British Museum. This emotional moment sparked a deeper investigation into the origins, evolution, and symbolic meanings of traditional Chinese patterns, many of which are often misinterpreted or superficially used in modern design.
Through a cohesive visual system, I created a cultural brand that includes a full brand identity (VI), logo, scarf designs, promotional video, advertising posters, and a mobile app. Each design element integrates digital reinterpretation with classic aesthetics to offer a fresh way of storytelling. The project also incorporates custom typography and dynamic visuals, using tools such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma, Procreate, Processing, CapCut, and Prodrafts.
This work intends to provide new perspectives on how cultural heritage can be communicated—transforming tradition into a living narrative. It also aims to make traditional Chinese elements more accessible, understandable, and appreciated by international audiences.
