With A Love Letter to My Ancestors, Ellison explores the nuances of his mixed British and Caribbean heritage. Responding to Ellison’s alertness of cultural differences after moving from Birmingham to Farnham, the work draws on childhood nostalgia, delving into memories of his time in St Kitts and Jamaica as a child. The self-portraits weave together the threads of his ancestry that shape his identity.
