My project explores ethical production and material sustainability in ergonomic chair design, focusing on the needs of standing-motion workers in Nigerian Computer based test center (CBT) centres. The work investigates how sustainable materials, modular construction, and ergonomic principles can be combined to create a chair (The Odogwu Stool) that adapts to changing user needs and spaces. Through a series of workshops (rapid prototyping, technical refinement, and fabrication) I developed a prototype featuring a bicycle-inspired seat through 3D printing, adjustable catch clip mechanism for height adjustment, and lightweight aluminium pipe structure. This design not only prioritizes user comfort and adaptability but also integrates sustainability, ethical manufacturing, and cost-conscious mass production strategies, offering a practical solution to workspace ergonomics in Nigeria and beyond.
