Dementia: 5000 miles apart

Shannon Nel, a textile designer with a BA specialisation in print, has focused her MA studies on the connection between textiles and Dementia, creating prototypes for sensory textiles. Her designs draw inspiration from ShweShwe, a traditional South African wax fabric, as well as the region’s native flora and fauna. Motivated by her grandfather’s Dementia, her work aims to provide comfort and enhance the quality of life for users.
