“Invisible Boundaries” is a contemplative exploration of the intersection between human emotions, spatial confinement, and the transformative power of fashion as wearable art.Freedom for me, from my mind, is when I can become invisible by blending with the walls in my room when I feel anxious and afraid of the world outside me. But I didn’t realize the world that I was afraid of was inside my head. This collection is inspired by personal experiences of seeking solace within the confines of familiar spaces, where walls become a sanctuary from external anxieties that ultimately originate from within.
How can a person communicate their emotion or how they feel the way they feel when they are anxious, scared, or sad? The garments in “Invisible Boundaries” delve into themes of emotional confinement and liberation. They symbolize the desire to merge with surroundings for comfort and security, reflecting an inner struggle with anxiety and fear. The inspiration for this collection stems from the experience of seeking solace and invisibility within familiar surroundings during moments of inner turmoil. This introspective journey echoes the fusion of self and space portrayed in the works of artists like Francesca Woodman and Antony Gormley.
“Invisible Boundaries” narrates a journey of self-discovery and emotional expression. The human form intertwines with nearby objects or nestles into the corners of a room, seamlessly melding with the surrounding architecture to become an integral aspect of the sculptural composition. In this fusion, the body transcends its intrinsic structure, finding expression through the defining contours and spatial confines of its environment. By exploring the discomfort of fitting into unconventional spaces, the collection invites introspection and dialogue about the complexities of human emotions.
