My work explores the transformation of landscapes through the expansion of urbanisation and the increasing impact of industrial materials on the natural environment.
Through processes of collecting weathered and degraded materials, casting, layering and bonding, I create forms that evoke architectural frames, concrete infrastructures and intertidal remnants.
Inspired by the Kent coastline and the Thames Estuary, where industrial structures, sea defences and natural processes exist in a state of continual interaction, these assemblages reflect on the material legacy of human activity and suggest environments suspended between construction and erosion, permanence and change, resilience and uncertainty.
