Margaret Nunberg proposed that ‘art is a bridge between consciousness and the unconscious,’ thereby pioneering the process of art therapy. Edith Kramer established the concept of ‘art as therapy,’ emphasising the healing power inherent in the creative process itself.
Building upon this, the Healing House employs an activity-based therapeutic model integrated with psychotherapy. Through active participation, the Healing House facilitates transitions to new life contexts, enabling profound healing and therapeutic outcomes. Thus, the Healing House serves as a sanctuary where the spirit may rest and energy may flow freely.
My design philosophy centred on “designing for service functionality”. Through gentle curved forms, the inherent textures of natural materials, and minimalist yet practical functional elements, I created an inclusive, soothing space. This fosters a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere, enabling visitors to shed defences from the moment they enter and experience acceptance, respect, and goodwill. Individuals continually engage in therapeutic activities, exhibitions, and charitable sales according to their needs. This journey evolves from the personal to the collective and societal, progressing from exchange and sharing to contributing to society through helping others. Participants gain self-affirmation and elevate their life goals, drawing healing strength to overcome obstacles and blossom anew.
