‘From This Estate’ is a multimedia piece which uses elements of performance, video work, sculpture and installation. The work looks to explore stereotypes of class and identity through a nostalgic lens whilst using myself as the main medium through characters and facades I’ve created. The videos are inspired by where I grew up, the people I grew up with and the influences they had on me. I’m interested in looking at how the environments in which people grow in and the people around them can shape and mould a person. My work looks to shine a light on the underbelly of working class culture and further, it looks to explore the complete liberation which can be felt when playing and performing through various characters.
