Hawkes Sustainability Prize (Undergraduate)

This project is a sustainable kindergarten/daycare and community centre, situated in a new development area in Copenhagen, where a typical building is re-imagined as a landscape for learning, play, and community. Responding to the social segregation experienced by immigrant communities, the building also creates a space where people, as well as young children are provided a permanent and accessible place of gathering in an environment where places aren’t permanent.

Using bio-based, local materials this project also explores sustainability manifested in the learning environment of young children as well as its carbon impact and possible future use of materials.
