My project is deeply inspired by the Women, Life, Freedom movement that began in Iran in 2022-a movement I experienced firsthand while still in Iran. I have always believed that women should have a voice, but witnessing the courage of the women in my country during that period left me in awe.
This movement was ignited by the tragic death of a young woman, beaten to death for not properly covering her hair, leading to widespread protests. Iranian women took to the streets, removing their headscarves and cutting their hair as acts of resistance. The scenes I witnessed on the streets of Tehran moved me profoundly and instilled in me a deep need to capture the story of that moment through clay.
My work tells the story of the bravery of Iranian women as they stand against gender inequality, violence, and restrictive laws. Each piece is a tribute to their strength, a testament to their resilience, and a reflection of the powerful spirit that drives the fight for freedom and justice.
