The project focuses on encouraging outdoor exploration in a contemporary, constantly changing environment, and demonstrating how apps can be used to assist in interacting with the world around you. Aimed at an 18-24 audience, Roamly utilises what this demographic is familiar with in the form of apps, while also allowing a device to be used as a companion in exploring and interacting with the outside world. The free roam feature highlights how people should not be confined to following certain routes planned out by a map, instead allowing users to create their own adventure by following a set of tasks that determine direction instead.
The outcome includes the app prototype and posters that assist by promoting usage with a focus on nature motifs such as dotted lines representing pathways and patterns inspired by contour lines.
