The American Militia movement was the true danger of Y2K. These groups rooted in white supremacy and conspiracy armed themselves and prepared to fight if need be. In reality, the true threat was hysteria. Even if Y2K had shut down computer systems globally, thousands of armed extremists with a finger on the trigger was a more imminent doomsday.

I acquired the fax I used to print this project second-hand on eBay. It came with a few rolls of thermal paper, which smelt as old as the fax did. Much of it had yellowed which I used for a few prints. This helped to make the fax feel like it was a relic of the 1990’s.
