My work is a continuous investigation of contamination and transformation, drawing on bacterial structures. I am constantly questioning the characteristics of how organic forms disrupt controlled spaces and surfaces which are associated with an artificial cleanliness like door handles and tiled floors. I started with a mould-based Investigation into how mould grows and takes over surfaces through accumulation before I moved into the study of microscopic bacterial imagery to representing the visual qualities in a sculptural language. Investigating repeated mark making and processes are important to my practice to create installations which invite the audience in. I am always exploring the tension between hard and soft physical materials to play and contrast off one another. This creates a disruption which is visually appealing. Concrete blocks, metal rods, and soft organic fabric and yarn sculptures are the highlight of my current practice to convey my themes theoretically as well as physically.
