In response to the ISTD brief “Trade matters” this project seeks to revive the traditional Greek craft of weaving by translating its essence into a modular typographic system. Drawing from the rich history, heritage and mythology of weaving, it examines the geometric patterns found in the traditional weaves of Naxos Island, focusing on the repetitive structures that characterise the region. This system is presented in a four-page A3 booklet, accompanied by contextual information outlining the project, the craft and the cultural tradition behind it.
