Red Alert is a book that touches on the struggles people living in Low Income Areas deal with during the process of surviving a hurricane, focusing specifically on hurricane Melissa and the effects it has had on Jamaica. I guided the reader through the phases of the storm using statistics and quotes from local news sources. Storm Melissa set Jamaica back an estimated 10-15 years in overall development. Stats like this are why I felt it was important to educate people on overlooked extreme weather disasters.
