Theme

‘Frank’s Paw-formance’ is a short, animated film about a loveable, goofy and curious dachshund called Frank. When his owner goes out to run errands, Frank likes to practice his dance moves to a special audience – his toys! See how Frank likes to prepare for his shows and enjoy a selection of Frank’s favourite dancing tunes whilst he busts some of his best moves!

As an aspiring character designer, I set out to create a character which could engage with my chosen audience. I wanted to utilise comedic elements by giving Frank a fun, energetic and expressive personality. Taking inspiration from some of my favourite short films, I wanted to create something that allowed me to enjoy myself, helped me observe movement and celebrated the idea of putting on a show! Now that I have completed this project, I can say it was extremely fun to work with Frank and I hope others will enjoy watching him.

Before university, I had some self-doubt and lacked confidence in myself and my ideas. This final project makes me happy and proud because it showcases just how far I have come since then. I’m stepping out into my career feeling confident and excited for what my future may hold.

After university, I’m looking for early career opportunities and I have been searching for an animation studio with a friendly team who are willing to give me my first shot. I’m looking forward to creating more fun and engaging stories as I break into the industry.
