Theme

The graduation showcase presents my Year 3 Final Major Project in Interior Design, centred on the themes of preservation and independent design thinking. Drawing from a personal connection to mindfulness, I chose to ground this project within the local context of Canterbury.

Titled “Have a Seat at the Table,” the project explores community support and self-empowerment through the reimagining of wellness retreats as inclusive social experiences. It maps a holistic journey of well-being—from spatial circulation and self-curated table arrangements to the mental and emotional impact of the user experience.

The project invites individuals to feel genuinely welcomed—to bring their presence and positive contributions ‘to the table.’ The table arrangements shift throughout the day in response to programmed activities while allowing users the freedom to reconfigure layouts to suit their own needs.

Ultimately, the social retreat encourages participants to eat, rest, play, and connect—rituals made meaningful through space, interaction, and design.
