RECONSTRUCTION OF UKRAINE
Kyiv Center for Reconstruction and Ecological Restoration/Kyiv, Ukraine
The purpose of the project is to create a concept of a typical project of a regional center for the development of technologies for the reconstruction of buildings destroyed as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war, based on the remains of the materials from which these buildings were built.
Built according to general indicators, as of the beginning of 2023, more than 12 million tons of construction debris were recorded as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Most of the construction waste in Ukraine is not processed, but is only taken out of the city to a landfill. This has become a major challenge that can be overcome by learning strategies for reuse of building materials in regional workshops.
Therefore, the solution will be regional reconstruction and eco-restoration centers that calculate the damage caused to the ecology and property of a certain region, assess risks and formulate a strategy.
to restore ecosystems, recycle the debris of buildings destroyed during the war, educate residents to deal with the environment and waste, promote smart consumption narratives, and collaborate with regionally-based environmental NGOs to research and solve problems. The building itself exemplifies this concept, as its exterior showcases a catalog of materials gathered from a single region from bombed areas.
