Situated within the ancient landscape of The Blean, this project proposes an intergenerational living and learning complex anchored around traditional woodworking craftsmanship and community wellbeing.
The masterplan integrates assisted living accommodations with healthcare, sports, education, and social spaces, creating an ecosystem of mutual care and shared knowledge. In this collaborative environment, senior craftspeople pass down their tacit knowledge and woodworking mastery to younger generations, while young learners actively engage with, support, and assist the elderly community. Rooted in sustainable timber architecture and the woodland’s natural context, the project redefines elder care from isolation into active stewardship, fostering meaningful social cohesion, wellbeing, and living heritage across generations.
