CHRONICLES OF THEATRE – An Interactive Theatre & dining experience!

Hi, I am Shreya Gupta. I have always been passionate towards designing spaces that build a deeper connection in communities and this drives my thesis project work, to explore and bring back theatre that has lost it’s value over time. 

The concept proposed is a narratively designed area that curates a visual experience while concentrating on communicating stories. 

 A theater-inspired interactive setting that also includes pre-dining. conveying to the user through concepts, costumes, props, lighting, and materiality, among other things.

Located in Margate is Winter Gardens which is the site chosen to showcase this concept. a town renowned for its cultural and historical landmarks. I propose, using their development plans, turning the ancient Winter Gardens into a classic theatre that unites its patrons and lets them enjoy entertainment in its purest form. My goal is to create a community that revitalizes the user experience and fosters social connections. There are two halls in the Winter Gardens, and I have decided to design “Queens Hall” as my concept.

Through its colorful decor, outfits, and sets, CHRONICLES OF THEATRE seeks to create an environment where people may enjoy live performances and a fun-filled evening. 

The visitors will be welcomed at the winter gardens’ gate and led to the queen’s hall upon their arrival. After guests check in, their online-booked tickets—which include dining and seating arrangements—will be examined. After being checked, guests will be led to their assigned seats and treated to a delicious dinner before the performance begins. After dinner, the guests would be entertained by live performances by artists and performers, which would kick off the evening. Upon the conclusion of the performance, attendees will be guided to go without first going through the gift shop to purchase mementos. 

An unforgettable opportunity for audience members to engage with their favourite characters and have a good time is the Interactive Theatrical Dining experience.
