This project proposes an unconventional European school for young adults in Copenhagen, developed for the European Youth Club. Challenging traditional educational models, my school is designed as a platform for cultural exchange, encouraging students to engage with diverse backgrounds while fostering a strong sense of belonging and collective identity. The design balances spaces for learning and social interaction, creating an inclusive environment where students feel both connected and informed.
My key spaces:
- Classrooms
- Creative Workshop Spaces
- Cinema/performance room
- Library
- Social centred spaces
A close relationship with nature forms a central component of the scheme. Terraces, green spaces, and an internal landscaped courtyard are integrated throughout the building, maintaining a visual and physical connection to the outdoors even beyond teaching hours.
These interventions enhance wellbeing, support informal social encounters, and strengthen the dialogue between interior and exterior spaces.
Sustainability is a key driver of the project. The use of reclaimed brick as the primary material, combined with a strategy that minimises concrete consumption, reduces the building’s environmental impact while establishing a durable and contextually grounded architectural character.
Together, these approaches create a learning environment that is socially engaging, environmentally responsible, and responsive to the needs of a diverse European student community.
