My brand, Alcor, is a combination of art and fashion, with a deep focus on promoting self-love and positive body image. Alcor’s primary mission is to create pieces that resonate with the ones who struggle with body dysmorphic disorder. Through my designs, I aim to remind my audience of their inherent value and beauty. Each piece is crafted as a valuable, wearable art form—balancing surreal, artistic aesthetics with couture sensibilities.
In my work, I combine the conceptual with the tangible, merging fashion and art to create something more than just clothing. I focus on designing “artwear” garments that are wearable art, with a meaningful narrative. The approach I took in my work was not just about aesthetics but about sending a message of self-acceptance and freedom. I translated my brand’s values of self-love and body positivity into carefully constructed garments that inspire confidence and individuality in everyone.
My motivations stem from a desire to challenge societal beauty standards and promote a healthier relationship with body image. I aim to give voice to those who have been marginalised by society’s unrealistic ideals, particularly those struggling with body dysmorphic disorder. I am inspired by organic shapes, Fibonacci sequences, and the fascinating similarities between nature and the female body.By drawing from organic shapes, I wanted to remind people that everyone’s shape is unique and one of a kind—just like nature itself. I also explore surrealism in my designs, reflecting the concept of metamorphosis and transformation, both physically and emotionally.
My final garment, Bloom, is part of the Metanoia collection, a collection centred on personal transformation. This piece is inspired by the fluidity of organic shapes, the symmetry and harmony found in nature, and the natural curves of the female form. I utilised a combination of traditional fashion techniques and more experimental art processes to bring this piece to life. This included sculptural elements, intricate handwork, and creative fabric manipulation to reflect both the complexity and beauty of the human experience.
Each garment in the collection, and BLOOM in particular, is a statement or a reminder that self-love and freedom are transformative forces. Through couture craftsmanship, I sought to create wearable art that is deeply meaningful, surreal, and liberating for the eyes.
