Music & Memories is a culmination of my passions and interests. As someone who loves going to concerts, gigs and festivals, I have collected a lot of music-related memorabilia over the years, whether that’s tickets, confetti or wristbands. More recently, I discovered the benefits of scrapbooking and cosy hobbies as a creative outlet, so my intention was to create a business idea and an event that combined those two things. That is where Music & Memories was born.
Music & Memories is a community event and a celebration of a person’s love for live music and creative hobbies, but most of all it’s a chance for individuals to come together in a shared space, connect and build friendships through their shared love of live music, memorabilia and scrapbooking.
I had the pleasure of organising a pilot event at Epsom Library back in April and it was a great success. I had 13 sign-ups and participants really engaged with the templates that I designed, met new people and, most importantly, had fun. Seeing people share stories about concerts they had attended and reminisce over their favourite artists reinforced my belief that music can bring people together in meaningful ways.
From carrying out primary research in the form of questionnaires, interviews and a focus group, to designing workshop materials, creating promotional content and planning the attendee experience down to the door sign, Music & Memories allowed me to immerse myself in both the creative and organisational sides of event planning.
This project combines many of the skills and experiences I have developed throughout my time at university, including those gained during my Professional Practice Year at Epsom & Ewell Borough Council. I enjoy projects that bring together creativity, community and strategic thinking, and I hope to continue developing ideas that create meaningful experiences for people through music and events.
