Hello!

My name is Katy Marie-Rose Turton, I’m a MA Visual Communication Student.

For this project I looked at the struggles of having periods, what it’s like to menstrate, what your hormones do to your body and how it affects you. I also looked at the inequalities, as well as how different societies treat and react to menses.

I wanted to take a light hearted view and use my humour to convey what having periods is like, however I know there will be some elements of this project, particularly in the research, that is serious. I wish to get people talking about “shark week” openly, use the jokes to break the ice, hopefully to remove the sigma and overcome menstrual taboos.
