Stride: Own Every Step

Redefining Mobility for Amputees

Stride is a digital and physical design project that empowers lower-limb amputees to take control of their mobility, fitness, and confidence. Developed through in-depth user research, testing, and co-design with amputees, Stride bridges advanced prosthetic technology with human-centred design.

The app enables users to switch their smart prosthesis between activity modes such as hiking or cycling, while tracking real-time performance stats like gait symmetry, resistance, and knee flexion—giving reassurance and improving efficiency during movement. Beyond data, Stride fosters community: a space where amputees can share achievements, compare activity modes, and inspire one another.

To complement functionality, Stride introduces prosthetic leg covers that can be 3D printed and customised with patterns, textures, and colours—transforming the prosthesis into a personal statement of identity and pride.

At its core, Stride celebrates accessibility, independence, and ownership. By merging fitness tracking, community connection, and customisable design, it reimagines prosthetics not as tools of limitation, but as catalysts for empowerment and freedom.
